We have exciting news to share! Lanphier Day Spa, DECLÉOR’s First Flagship Spa in the U.S., is now officially open in Darien CT! The celebratory launch cocktail party late last month was a huge success, with DECLÉOR founder, Solange Dessimoulie in attendance, joining us from our Paris office à propos for the soirée. Her natural charm delighted the longtime clients of the original Lanphier Day Spa as well as the local press in attendance with her stories and charisma.

The Healing Properties of Aromatic Hydrotherapy in Ancient Greece
HYDROTHERAPY IN ANCIENT GREECE & OTHER CULTURES For over thousands of years, the therapeutic use of water has been studied, developed and recorded by ancient cultures, early scientists and modern pioneers in the field of health. Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, stated that “the way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day. He learned about the healing properties of aromatic baths from the ancient Egyptians and subsequently developed teachings about using water as a form of treatment, which he called Hydrotherapy (water cure). Medicinal bathing is also called Balneotherapy or Thalassotherapy, which may have been derived from the ancient Greek word, thalassa (small sea) or from the Greek philosopher Thales (circa 636-546 B.C.E.), who believed that the physical world is derived from a single underlying substance – water.” (The Journal of the American Botanical Council, http://www.holistichorse.com/Herbs/history-of-herbal-baths.html).

Aromatherapy Spa Getaway Grand Prize Winner, Denise Matthews Had An “Unforgettable” Experience at Miami’s Eden Roc & Elle Spa
In May 2011, DECLÉOR partnered with the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel and Elle Spa in Miami to launch an Aromatherapy Spa Getaway Giveway with a winning package for 1 Grand Prize Winner and 15 First Place winners nationwide receiving $125 worth of DECLÉOR product. The giveaway received a ton of press with over 200 media outlets picking it up nationwide and garnered a ton of interest and activity on Decleorusa.com.
Fast forward to July 2012 and Grand Prize Winner, Denise Matthews of Washington (featured in the photograph above) has already redeemed her gift, having had an “unforgettable” experience at the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel and Elle Spa.
